HAST (Highly Accelerated Stress Testing)
Many products have
weaknesses which can be discovered by exposing them to temperatures in
excess of 100 degrees C. with humidity less than 100%. The process is
considered even more effective if the device under test can be electrically
biased during the procedure. This requires pressures above one atmosphere
and is described in JESD22-A110-B "Highly Accelerated Temperature and
Humidity Stress Test (HAST)" and JESD22-A118 "Accelerated Moisture
Resistance – Unbiased HAST".
Environ's Model 8442 HAST system combines 15 programmable DC power supplies
each capable of biasing two devices. The power supplies are under control of
a computer that also controls the operation of a Model LPB1-40 HAST chamber
manufactured by Despatch Industries. The pressure vessel is 25 inches in
diameter and 24 inches in depth. All events are recorded by the computer.
HAST testing is
related to HALT in that the goal of the test is
to break the product and discover its weakest points. Many customers elect
to run both HALT and HAST on products in the research and development stage.

applications to your products, please contact us. |
