Dynamics

We offer a full range of capabilities with regards to Vibration, Shock, HALT, and Acceleration testing.

Vibration Highlights:

  • Multiple shakers and controllers allow for unparalleled flexibility with regard to frequency and “G” levels
  • Sinusoidal
  • Random
  • Combined sine on random
  • Combined vibration with temperature/humidity/fluid flow
  • Shock: Classical, SRS, Pyrotechnic

All of our dynamic testing equipment (including electro-dynamic shakers, shock machines, and centrifuge) has been retrofitted with a common hole pattern (2-inch grid with 3/8th inch holes) to facilitate fixture design and allow for ease in moving between dynamic test equipment.

We can help with the design and fabrication of your fixture if needed.

Earthquake – Seismic Testing:

This hydraulic shaker table is specifically designed to meet Telcordia’s GR-63-CORE Zone 4 earthquake simulation, or approximately 8.4 on the Richter scale.  Because of its large table capacity it is also very useful for simulating shipping and over the road transportation testing on pallet-sized packages.

IBC/ICC Seismic Compliance:

We can assist with the seismic (earthquake resistance) qualification of your building component product to various standards/agencies, such as:

  •  2006 IBC (International Building Code (International Code Council (ICC)))

  •  ICC-ES AC156 (Seismic Qualification by Shake-Table Testing of Nonstructural Components and Systems) (ICC Evaluation Service, Approved Criteria)

  •  ASCE 7-05 (Minimum Design Loads for Building and Other Structures) (American Society of Civil Engineers)

  •  OSHPD (Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development (California Health and Human Services Agency))

We have partnered with a structural engineering firm with which we can work to complete the various steps of your qualification process, including:

  •  make an initial determination of the appropriate approach, whether calculation-based analysis, or static testing, or dynamics testing

  •  execute the detailed calculations applicable for your product/installation, for analysis and/or test parameters, whether maximum load case or site specific

  •  perform any required static or dynamics testing, including adapting or fabricating a suitable test fixture

  •  prepare a report complete with licensed engineer stamp for submittal to the governing agency for final approval

HALT Testing:

HALT-HASS MachineHALT – Highly Accelerated Life Testing

HASS – Highly Accelerated Stress Screening

Triaxial vibration combined with thermal shock can show you in just hours the most likely failure modes of your product at its initial development stage (HALT) and can provide ongoing quality sampling throughout final manufacturing (HASS).

Testing products to failure lets you identify the weak link, reduce product development time, and improve product quality before going to market.

Acceleration:

CentrifugeWe have both large and small centrifuges to handle your acceleration needs.  They are equipped with slip rings for power and fluid as well as RF data acquisition to support most types of operation during testing.
