Environ has become an industry leader in the EMI field of testing. We have
achieved this by drawing upon more than 40 years of testing to sophisticated
military and aerospace specifications combined with the most modern equipment
available and highly skilled engineers and technicians.
Numerous chambers and ground plane rooms allow for flexibility in meeting
your schedule.
We welcome the opportunity to consult with you about your program and offer
guidance if needed.
Need a test plan that will be accepted by your customer and the
FAA? No problem, we
routinely write custom test plans that will assure acceptance and keep you on
schedule.
Highlights include:
- HIRF, testing at levels greater
than the highest CW/SW/Pulse requirements of Airbus, Boeing, and the FAA
(>10,000 V/m!), automated, with any frequency step size.
- Multiple burst and multiple stroke
Lightning, Level 5
- High current/voltage
Power Input
testing, both AC and DC
- Fully automated testing
- Radiated Susceptibility greater than 200 Volts/Meter
- Multiple semi-anechoic chambers
- Multiple reverb chambers
- GTEM
New rules by the FAA, along with new requirements by some aircraft
manufacturers, have led to significantly higher HIRF test levels for many
aircraft electronic systems.
In response to these changes, Environ Laboratories, has positioned itself to
provide HIRF testing at the highest levels required by commercial, military, and
aircraft manufacturer standards. Using our 2 Reverberation Chambers, and our 3
Anechoic Chambers, we can perform HIRF testing at test levels that fully meet
and exceed these requirements:
- FAA HIRF Rule and Advisory Circular 20-158
- RTCA/DO-160E/F, Category A - L, ALL CW, SW, and Pulse test levels
- Boeing D6-16050-5, ALL CW, SW, and Pulse test levels
- Airbus A400M, ALL CW, SW, and Pulse test levels, including:
- Pulse @ 3500 V/m, 400 - 1000 MHz; 6000 V/m, 1 - 18 GHz
- CW/SW @ 600 V/m, 400 MHz - 18 GHz
All HIRF tests are performed under full computer control, with flexibility to
provide virtually any frequency step size, pulse duty cycle, or modulation type.
As an added benefit to our customers, Erik Borgstrom, EMC Operations Manager
is an active member of the SAE AE4 HIRF / EUROCAE WG-14 Joint Working Group,
which is in the process of revising the HIRF Users Guide, SAE ARP 5583.

The flexibility of our lightning test system allows us to provide just about
any waveform/transient desired.
Capabilities include Level 5 for all of the RTCA/DO-160E/F, Section
22 test waveforms and methods.
- Pin-injection testing
- Cable bundle testing
- Single-Stroke, Multiple Burst, Multiple Stroke at Level 1 to 5 (and
higher)
In addition to RTCA/DO-160E/F, the new equipment also allows us to offer
indirect lightning waveforms and test levels that meet the requirements of:
- Boeing D6-16050-4 & D6-16050-5
- Airbus ABD0100
- Many other military and commercial standards.
This capability compliments our High level HIRF and Power Quality
capabilities to offer unparalleled coverage of your EMI needs for the Aerospace
and Military industries.
Environ Laboratories offers Power Quality testing at very high voltage and
high current levels, to comply with the newest requirements in RTCA/DO-160F, as
well as the requirements from Boeing and Airbus.
The maximum voltage and current capabilities of our system are summarized
below:
| AC: |
DC: |
- 500 Volts (per phase)
- 250 Amps (3 phase)
- 750 Amps (1 phase)
|
|
Our Power Quality test system is extremely flexible, providing us the
capability to provide Single-Phase and Three-Phase AC power at virtually any
frequency. In addition, for DC power quality testing, we can provide transients
with extremely fast slew rates.
Our equipment also provides the capability for Power Quality testing in
accordance with other commercial and military standards, such as:
- MIL-STD-704
- MIL-STD-1275
- DOD-STD-1399
- Boeing 787B3-0147
- Airbus ABD0100.1.8
- Airbus AMD 24
- And others...
