FLAMMABILITY
This procedure consists of direct flame impingement on operating or nonoperating
devices such as fuel or hydraulic lines or pumps. Quite often, the test is aimed at
simulating a typical aircraft power plant fire. This may require vibration of
the type encountered during rough engine operation and may require various levels of fluid
flow, pressures, and temperatures.
It is required by the government for aircraft component
qualification, but may also be used to demonstrate routine flammability characteristics of
almost any product.
Flame calibration is performed per: Power Plant Report No. 3A, AS1055B,
AIR 1377, or AC20-135
